In Medellín, the Flower Festival is experienced among the aroma of freshly roasted coffee and the charm of the surrounding mountains, inviting travelers to discover a city where every silleta and every cup tells a story that captivates the heart.

The Flower Fair is a traditional celebration in Medellín that honors the Paisa culture with silleteros, music, flowers, and events that showcase the region’s pride and history.

Where do the silleteros come from?

In the past, the silleteros walked down from the mountain towns to Medellín, carrying on their backs the ‘silletas’: wooden structures used to transport the flowers they sold in the city. Today, this tradition lives on through the farmers and their families, who craft silletas featuring up to one hundred varieties of flowers, compete for the most beautiful design, and parade each year along the river in a colorful celebration of pride, heritage, and community.
